Old Lyme Board of Selectmen

Special Meeting
The Board of Selectmen held a Special Meeting at 1:00 PM on Thursday, 13 December 2012 in the Meeting Hall of the Old Lyme Memorial Town Hall. First Selectwoman Bonnie Reemsnyder, Selectwoman Mary Jo Nosal and Selectman Skip Sibley were present.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the initial FY 2014 budget requests.
Finance Director Nicole Stajduhar was available to review each of the department requests and highlight the areas of change from prior budgets. She reviewed the procedures that were followed in past years, and stated that it was a positive addition to have the Board of Selectmen schedule this special meeting to review the budget.
Several questions were addressed throughout the review, and the Selectmen were able to review the General Operating Budget. There was some discussion about salaries, including reference to the recommendations of the Compensation Study by Randi Frank & Associates, Inc. As time was short, it was agreed that another special meeting should be scheduled to review salaries and Capital expenses. There was further discussion about the process of review by the Board of Selectmen, and whether or not the Board of Selectmen should make reductions in requests prior to sending to the Board of Finance, or just let the Board of Finance make reductions through their regular review process. This will be discussed further at the next meeting.
Selectman Sibley moved to adjourn the special meeting at 3:15 PM. Selectwoman Nosal seconded the motion. SO VOTED.
